On OneSpace Project Center, you control the rates you pay your contributors. For each assignment, you’ll need to decide how much you pay a contributor for completing a single task. When setting up an assignment, you can control the pay under Settings > Pay Settings.
Determining a Fair Pay Rate
Many factors help determine a proper per-task pay rate. Here are some of the most important things to consider.
—Time
While payments on the Project Center platform are issued on a per-task basis, most contributors think about earnings in terms of an hourly rate. Consider the amount of time a contributor will have to dedicate to a task before assigning a pay rate. In general, tasks that take longer to complete should pay higher rates.—
Expertise
It takes time and money for contributors to develop expertise in a particular field. When deciding how much to pay contributors, consider the education and/or experience necessary to successfully complete a task. If an assignment requires a high level of detail or specialized knowledge in a particular field, its contributors should be paid a higher rate per task.LEVEL-BASED PAY
OneSpace Project Center allows you to set different pay rates for the same assignment based on a contributor’s proficiency level. This means you can pay more experienced contributors higher rates than less experienced contributors.
Research
Researching to find accurate and credible information takes time, effort and a certain amount of know-how. Consider the amount of research necessary to complete a task whenever you’re determining the pay rate. The per-task pay should always increase with the amount or difficulty of the research that’s required.—
Complexity
Understanding an assignment’s requirements is a crucial part of completing a task efficiently. Complex requirements and subjective guidelines increase the time and effort it takes a contributor to learn what’s expected of them. In general, assignments that are complex and/or subjective in nature should pay more than those that are more simple and/or objective.—
Quality
When it comes to quality, the rule of thumb is always this: You get what you pay for. Contributors are hesitant to invest their time and energy in assignments that don’t pay well. Higher-quality work requires higher pay. If your rates don’t reflect the quality of work you’re looking for, you could have trouble attracting contributors who meet your expectations.—
Quantity
Contributors value a steady stream of work, so the quantity of available tasks is also an important factor to consider. One-off assignments and projects that don’t guarantee regular work should always pay more than those that do. If you offer the security of steady work, however, contributors may be willing to accept slightly lower per-task rates.—
Extras
Some assignments ask a contributor to play multiple roles. For example, if you want a writer to create an article, you may also want them to find SEO-friendly keywords or select relevant images. Choose a rate that reflects these expectations and any additional expertise that may be required.Bonuses
Project Center also lets you give bonuses to contributors on top of the per-task pay rate.
There are three ways to issue bonuses:- Issue a bonus to a single contributor from their Contributor History page.
- Issue a bonus to multiple contributors from the Contributor Monitoring page.
- Issue a bonus to multiple contributors on the same team from the Manage Team page.
